Tawny Frogmouths Podargus strigoides are sometimes seen roosting on exposed branches in street trees during the day, often posing so that they resemble a broken-off branch, making them remarkably difficult to spot. However, it’s a different story at night, when they are out and about actively hunting for insects, and they’re often seen as a shape flashing through the beam of car headlights.
