Red Knot


The Red KnotĀ Calidris canutusĀ forages on intertidal mudflats and sandflats along sheltered coasts, often in large numbers and with other shorebird species. They migrate to Australia after breeding in dry upland tundra in the Arctic. There are six different subspecies, two of these regularly visit Australia where they are listed as Endangered.
